Currently I'm dealing with having 2 elderly parents in a care home.
My mother has been in a care home for well over 1.5 years already and the funding was sorted out by my father.
My father now has had to go into the care home.
And I'm dealing with the financial side of funding care.
Now, I don't want to spend one penny of my own money on this. To be honest, it seems like throwing good money after bad for me to do that. Why waste money on people who are utterly useless!? If I had my way, they would both be euthanized. And that's what I think would be best for a lot of elderly people who are a drain on society.
But ...
My parents have paid into the system all their life. Taxes, taxes, taxes and more taxes. Aren't they entitled to some care when their life is coming to an end!?
This brings me onto the title subject.
Disgusted With Taxes
I'm sick of how much tax we pay simply to live in the UK.
Council tax at ~ £1500 a year, for what!? So I have a bin collection once a week!? Most of the council tax money gets spent on wages for an over bloated and highly inefficient council staff.
Income tax and national insurance. If you earn say £100'000, then your income tax is something like £40'000. £40k for what!? For hotels for economic migrants who arrive on dinghies!? For stupid foreign wars that only benefit the rich investors of the military-industrial complex!? For foreign aid to countries richer than the UK!? Gold plated pensions for public sector workers!?
VAT (Value Added Tax) is the government (the biggest bunch of crooks) taking their 20% cut of everything (most things) that you buy. So our £100k earner, who has already been taxed 40%, gets taxed further on many things he/she buys with the remaining £60k.
Then you get flight duty. A return ticket to Thailand is roughly £1000 these days and £400 of that is tax.
When you drive a car in the UK and you fill it with petrol/diesel, around 50% of the bill goes to the treasury!
All These Taxes But Nothing (very little) When You Need End-of-Life Care
People pay so much in the UK in taxes over their lifetime, and when it comes to the end, and they need end-of-life care, the government takes everything. Their home. Their savings (there is a personal allowance of £23500 currently per person that the government should not touch, but they will try their darndest to take that too). Their pension. Snoops through their life. It's a massively shitty situation.
Additionally shitty because if you'd been a bum all your life, never saved a dime, blown every dime you'd ever had, you'd get the same end-of-life care, and no government snooping into your life.
What Can You Do?
The answer is to move to a country that doesn't tax it's citizens so highly. And a government that is not so greedy. The greed of the UK state institutions are beyond ridiculous.
UK wages are not that great (certainly not compared to the USA.) The standard of living has been dropping (due to uncontrolled immigration). UK really is not a great place to live any more.
Gold bullion coins are tax free to buy and capital gains tax free. Feels like a great investment if you want to be off the grid!
