My initial experiences with dopamine detox therapy were quite good, but I didn't find it a sustainable approach to getting stuff done (and not being distracted by desires.) And it starts to get a bit depressing and stressful "I must detox... I must detox... Nooo.... I've given in... I'm so bad..."
In reality, it should simply be called:
"The art of not doing/thinking about shit you don't need to do!"
Or (even better):
"The art of doing precisely what you should be doing (in the here and now)!"
Examples: You don't need to look at porn (even though it is pleasureable.) You don't need to go online shopping to buy that hundredth clothing garment. You don't need that slice of bread with chocolate spread on. You don't even need to go on/survive/live...
What you should be doing is not necessarily what you want to do, and that is life. Doing what you should do/what you want to do, it's all a waste of time ultimately, no difference between them, it's all just life. We'd all much rather be doing fun things, but that's not the way of the world, and you need to do boring things to better appreciate the fun things!
