A Simple Life has no Work-Life Balance

My number 1 rule in 7 Secrets to Leading a Happy Life is to "Keep it simple!"

And I realized, even contemplating a work/life balance goes against that first rule.

Work and play is all life.

I think you have to learn to enjoy (even love) your work, but be real about what it is. If you are a paid employee of a company, don't expect any loyalty from your company. You could be the best worker they have, but if the CEO decides they need to shed staff to make the shareholders happy, they won't hesitate to let you go. Also, don't let your work get in the way of realizing other opportunities. A job for life is extremely rare in this day and age.

Constantly improve yourself and be prepared. Be prepared for: redundancy, new opportunities, financial catastrophes, retirement, and death, etcetera ...

Life is more simple when you're not worrying about your work-life balance. And simplicity is the key to a happy (contented) life.

  1. Keep it simple!
  2. Keep fit! (mentally and physically)
  3. Get your work done! And Get stuff done!
