The Age of Distraction is Over!

I've been bad for too long. Time to resist the distraction! Time to be free from distraction! Better to stare at a wall than give in to distraction! Even better - mediate!

Update 2024.06.01:

I have quit Instagram (and it feels like a massive relief, like a weight has lifted from my shoulders)! I had over 600 followers. Had done nearly 600 posts. But it was such a time-sink. I was seriously addicted to browsing (mostly looking at the endless pretty ladies). And it was very bad for my mental health. I am happy to have quit.

Other news, I have also quit Facebook!

In the last week or so, I have:
  1. Pretty much quit Discord (quit then opened a new account for one work related channel)
  2. Decided to revoke my patronage of one forum (so now there are only 2 forums that I am an active member of)
  3. Quit Instagram (this was addictive and bad for my mental health).
  4. Quit Facebook (I didn't do much on this, but less social media is definitely more).
So that means the only time-sinks that I need to free myself from the distraction of are:
  • Porn
  • YouTube
  • Two forums
I may re-open an Instagram or Facebook account in the future if needed (maybe for some research purpose) but will not keep it open for long. It will be a pop-in and pop-out affair. And I have doubts my patronage of the two forums will be forever.

I've reached a point in my life where I don't want any more toys. I don't want any more cars. If anything, I want to reduce my possessions - have less. I want a simple life. And less is definitely more 😊👍
