Looking for attention on social media is like building a house made of straw.

Looking for attention on social media is like building a house made of straw.

When the wind of reality blows, the entire house falls. The problem with seeking attention from strangers online is that you can receive it in abundance. Unregulated dopamine shots straight into your brain.

But what goes up must come down, and when you realize that the momentary love you receive online doesn’t always translate in person…you leave room for despair to creep into your reality.

Social media was supposed to free us, connect us. But for many it has proved addictive, punishing and toxic. Addiction was the template for our relationship with social media – the fear of being left out.

Breaking free from social media, allows you to reconnect with the real world, protect your privacy, and is better for your self-esteem.

In a world where everyone is over exposed, the coolest thing you can do is maintain your mystery.

Break free from social media and mobile!

Social media is:
  • Internet Forums
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • ...
  • Email*
  • Blogs**
*Yes email is social media. How often do you find yourselves addictively checking your email to see if there has been any reaction (even from shopping websites ... any news on your purchase ....)?
** Blogs are a form of social media but I think the least harmful. Anyone who has done blogging for any length of time, knows it's not about attention, because it is very hard to get attention with blogs. Blogs are for sharing stuff for the sake of it, and you don't care if no one visits. Of course it is still nice when people do visit and leave a nice comment, it's just that the getting a reaction is not why you do it.
